Research Fellow (High-Energy Ultrafast Optics)

About This Role

Seeking a PhD candidate to lead the design and fabrication of a high-average-power, high-peak-power mid-infrared gas-filled hollow-core fiber laser system.

Responsibilities

• Design and assemble a compact laser system capable of generating femtosecond pulses in the mid-infrared region.
• Design and fabricate antiresonant hollow-core fibers required for the system, in collaboration with fiber fabricators.
• Prepare progress reports for funding agency and manage procurement of equipment, components, and consumables.
• Maintain equipment and troubleshoot issues in the laser laboratory.
• Provide ad-hoc administrative support as needed.

Requirements

• PhD degree in Physics, Engineering or related field.
• Technical hands-on experience in experimental ultrafast optics, mid-infrared optics, or related field.
• Ability to lead a research project under strict timelines with minimal supervision.
• Good written and oral communication skills.
