About This Role
Seeking a PhD candidate to lead the design and fabrication of a high-average-power, high-peak-power mid-infrared gas-filled hollow-core fiber laser system.
Responsibilities
- Design and assemble a compact laser system capable of generating femtosecond pulses in the mid-infrared region.
- Design and fabricate antiresonant hollow-core fibers required for the system, in collaboration with fiber fabricators.
- Prepare progress reports for funding agency and manage procurement of equipment, components, and consumables.
- Maintain equipment and troubleshoot issues in the laser laboratory.
- Provide ad-hoc administrative support as needed.
Requirements
- PhD degree in Physics, Engineering or related field.
- Technical hands-on experience in experimental ultrafast optics, mid-infrared optics, or related field.
- Ability to lead a research project under strict timelines with minimal supervision.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
