Research Fellow (Self Driving Lab for Materials Discovery)

About This Role

NTU seeks a hands-on Research Fellow to advance electrocatalyst discovery by integrating agentic platforms and developing novel machine learning algorithms for materials science.

Responsibilities

• Integrate instruments and IoT devices into autonomous testing workflows.
• Design LLM agents for experiment planning, tool-use, and control.
• Develop and deploy RL/agentic active learning for closed-loop optimization.
• Build data pipelines, dashboards, and provenance tracking.
• Analyze results and publish in peer-reviewed venues.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in CS/EE/Robotics/ChemE/MechE or related.
• Strong Python skills with hardware/software integration experience (API, TCP/IP).
• Practical ML background, including RL or Bayesian Optimization.
• Familiarity with Docker, Linux, and Git.
• Track record in automation or autonomous lab environments.
