Research Fellow (Engineering/ Material Science/ Chemistry)

About This Role

A Research Fellow position for the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering seeks a PhD candidate with expertise in chemical synthesis, concrete analysis, mechanical testing, and microstructural characterization to lead research on self-healing ductile cementitious composites for coastal protection.

Responsibilities

• Conduct research on the development of Self-Healing Ductile Cementitious Composites for Durable and Resilient Coastal Protection Infrastructure
• Carry out research according to proposed milestones in the project
• Perform chemical synthesis and analysis, concrete sample preparation, mechanical testing, and microstructural characterization (XRD, TGA, FTIR, SEM-EDX)
• Provide additional experience in carbon sequestration in cement-based material if preferred
• Conduct research according to the project's milestones

Requirements

• PhD degree in Engineering, Material Science or Chemistry
• Strong academic standing with several publications in reputable journals
• Strong references from previous supervisors
