Project Officer/Research Associate/Research Fellow (Computer Science/Mathematics/Statistics)

A research-focused Project Officer/Research Associate role at NTU's College of Computing and Data Science, focusing on statistical machine learning, Bayesian programming, and AI safety research.

Responsibilities

• Manage academic research projects with deadlines and administrative coordination
• Carry out original mathematical models, experimental protocols, and software development tools
• Write, publish, and present research results at meetings
• Contribute to new research projects by developing ideas for funding and senior proposals
• Act as a source of information on scientific protocols and experimental techniques
• Represent the research group at external meetings/seminars

Requirements

• PhD in Computer Science or Mathematics with a strong background in AI, machine learning, Bayesian statistics, programming languages, logic and algorithms
• For senior fellow roles: relevant PhD with significant research leadership experience
• Strong publication record and familiarity with statistical machine learning, deep learning, or large language models
• Sufficient specialist knowledge in statistical machine learning and deep learning to work within established research programmes
• Ability to independently plan and manage a research project, including a research budget
• Strong collaboration abilities in person, on paper, and over electronic channels
• Excellent communication skills for writing for publication, presenting research proposals/results, and representing the group
