About This Role
KLA seeks a Staff Laser Scientist in Singapore to contribute to advanced long-range technology development within the Office of the CTO. This role involves applying expertise in solid-state laser design and non-linear optics to drive product innovation.
Responsibilities
- Modularize laser concepts using experimental setups and improve optical performance/stability.
- Characterize critical laser crystals and components, collaborating with suppliers on performance targets.
- Align laser performance to final system requirements and develop risk retirement plans.
- Allocate error budgets for opto-mech sub-assemblies and verify parameter deviations experimentally.
- Collaborate with design engineers during prototype laser development phases.
- Team up with the CTO team in Milpitas for knowledge exchange on laser system design.
Requirements
- Doctorate (Academic) in Physics or Optics with 5+ years of research experience.
- Strong knowledge of solid-state laser design and non-linear optics.
- Proficiency in system-level laser performance study (simulation & experimental).
- Experience with DUV laser design or managing complex laser/optical systems.
- Experience utilizing and characterizing harmonic generation crystals.
- Excellent experimentalist with strong problem-solving and data analysis skills.
- Team player with good written and verbal communication abilities.
- Prior experience with photo-contamination control is desired.
