Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated self-driven Research Engineer to join our research lab at ASTAR ISCE2 based on Jurong Island. You will work on sustainable soft materials with advanced properties for applications in bioengineering, CO2 capture and advanced manufacturing.

Responsibilities

Support the conceptualization and development of new polymer materials for novel applications, including active CO2 capture, sensor, actuator and 3D printing.

Operate basic analytical and evaluation instruments.

Document and maintain accurate test records and reports, prepare documents for technology disclosure, patent filing and research publications

Ensure adherence to departmental policies, safety guidelines, and compliance requirements.

Communicate effectively with internal stakeholders and team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Materials, or Polymer Engineering/Science.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) or lab equipment (tensile tester, rheometer) for testing.
  • Strong background in polymer crosslinking; experience with coating, or additive manufacturing is highly preferred.
  • Familiar with chemical and materials characterization techniques including UV-Vis, NMR, FTIR, mass spectrometry
  • Independent, diligent, professional and demonstrate a positive work attitude.
