About This Role

A*STAR is seeking a Senior Scientist with a PhD in Robotics or related fields to lead Applied R&D for Embodied AI, specifically focusing on Learning from Demonstration (LfD) and contact-rich manipulation in industrial manufacturing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct applied R&D for Embodied AI, particularly Learning from Demonstration techniques.
  • Design and execute experiments to collect, process, and analyze demonstration data for training intelligent robotic behaviors.
  • Apply machine learning techniques (including deep learning) to enhance robot control and decision-making processes.
  • Translate research outcomes into functional prototypes for industrial applications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including hardware engineers and software developers to achieve project goals.
  • Support stakeholder engagement with industry partners regarding system capabilities and limitations.

Requirements

  • PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong background in robot learning, Embodied AI, Learning from Demonstration, or related AI-driven robotics techniques.
  • Knowledge of deep learning frameworks like TensorFlow and/or PyTorch.
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python, C++.
  • Hands-on experience with ROS2, simulation environments (e.g., Isaac Sim), and robotic hardware platforms.
  • Familiarity with industrial automation or manufacturing environments is an advantage.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with colleagues and present technical findings.
