About This Role

A*STAR Research Engineer/ Senior Research Engineer (FAB System & Automation) at NSTIC, IME requires expertise in MES integration, IoT automation, and AI-driven data analytics to optimize semiconductor fabrication workflows.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with vendors to deploy robust communication systems between MES, tools, and AMR.
• Design and develop intuitive web-based user interfaces for system monitoring and operational control.
• Generate automated periodic insights, analytics, reports, visualizations, and alerts for real-time decision-making.
• Conduct periodic data integrity checks, implement automated failure alerts, and troubleshoot system issues.
• Propose/develop/implement/maintain IOT automation systems for equipment data collection and storage.
• Create equipment and operator interfaces enabling digital recording of operations.

Requirements

• Strong programming skills in PHP, JavaScript, Python, or other web technologies.
• Experience in data synthesis, reasoning, and analysis with a keen ability to develop automation solutions.
• 1-3 years of MES system administration experience in semiconductor process modules or digital transformation/automation.
• Solid understanding of communication protocols between semiconductor tools and factory automation systems (SECS/GEM, AMR, MES).
• Familiarity with a variety of operating systems (Windows, Linux) and automation software.
• Industry knowledge in semiconductor fabrication or equipment engineering.
