About the role

Mid-level engineer responsible for day-to-day operations and reliability of critical infrastructure in a data center environment, including mechanical, electrical, and HVAC systems. Focus on preventive maintenance, continuous improvement, and vendor coordination to ensure 100% uptime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day operations and maintenance of critical data center infrastructure including mechanical, electrical, HVAC, and fire suppression systems
  • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on critical systems to ensure 100% uptime and reliability
  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for system failures and performance issues
  • Develop and maintain standard operating procedures, technical documentation, and maintenance schedules
  • Manage vendor relationships and coordinate third-party maintenance activities
  • Execute commissioning and decommissioning of data center equipment and infrastructure
  • Monitor system performance through KPIs and implement continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support capacity planning and change management processes for infrastructure upgrades
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards and environmental regulations
  • Participate in on-call rotation and respond to emergency situations as needed

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering or equivalent practical experience
  • Minimum 3 years of experience in data center operations, critical facilities, or industrial maintenance environments
  • Strong understanding of mechanical and electrical systems including HVAC, UPS, generators, and switchgear
  • Experience with building management systems (BMS), SCADA, and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS)
  • Knowledge of data center best practices and industry standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions
  • Experience developing and maintaining technical documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Strong project management skills with ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for vendor coordination and cross-functional collaboration
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred
  • PMP certification preferred
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and work in varying environmental conditions
  • Willingness to participate in on-call rotation and respond to after-hours emergencies
  • Proficiency with MS Office and CMMS software applications
