We are building the fastest and most reliable network required for Apple's unique needs, supporting all of its products and services. This Network Engineer role is based in Singapore and will focus on designing, building, and operating the network infrastructure Apple operates domestically within China. The position requires knowledge of protocols and systems used within Content or Service Provider Networks, as well as a deep familiarity with China's domestic telecommunications landscape, carriers, and regulatory environment.
Apple is looking for a Network Engineer, who will be based in Singapore, to join their Global Network Services (GNS) team. The ideal candidate will contribute to the design, testing, and operational support of Apple's network infrastructure in China, with a focus on the Backbone and Internet Edge as it relates to Apple's domestic China operations. This Network Engineer will participate in the design, testing, documentation, and operation of network hardware, software, and supporting systems deployed within Apple's China network footprint. They will contribute to capacity planning processes and work alongside senior engineers and architects on budgeting and hardware lifecycle decisions. The engineer must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and able to collaborate effectively with colleagues across Operations, Engineering, and Architecture β both in China and globally across Apple's network teams.

Minimum Qualifications:
5 years of Network Engineering or Operations experience Experience operating a large-scale network utilizing BGP, RSVP-TE, MPLS, VPNs, IS-IS, and/or OSPF Experience with documentation of Network Design and Test Plans Experience and working knowledge of BGP Routing Policies and Internet Peering Familiarity and experience with Intra-APAC and Trans-Pacific submarine systems/assets Solid working knowledge of at least one vendor Network Operating System: JUNOS, SR-OS, EOS, or IOS-XR required Solid understanding of TCP/IP (both IPv4 and IPv6) Intimate, hands-on knowledge of China's domestic telecommunications carriers, including operational, technical, and commercial practices of: China Telecom, China Mobile, China Unicom, CITIC Telecom International, CBN Experience directly interfacing with one or more of the above carriers on circuit provisioning, BGP peering, IP transit, or private line/MPLS services within mainland China Familiarity with China's domestic internet exchange points (e.g., CNIX, ChinaIX) and peering ecosystem Working knowledge of the regulatory framework governing telecommunications and network operations in China, including requirements set forth by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) Understanding of ICP (Internet Content Provider) licensing implications on network architecture and connectivity Familiarity with China's unique internet architecture, including cross-border connectivity constraints and domestic traffic routing practices English proficiency is required for collaboration with Apple's global teams
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience and knowledge of capacity planning; familiarity with budget planning processes is a plus Experience with Spirent or Ixia test platforms is a plus Experience with one of the following programming languages is a plus: Python, Rust, Go, or C Professional fluency in Mandarin β written and spoken β is strongly preferred College degree (BA or BS) or equivalent relevant experience; technical degree preferred Advanced Network Certifications preferred (e.g., CCNP, JNCIP, or equivalent professional-level certification) Certifications or coursework relevant to Chinese telecommunications or domestic carrier operations are a plus
