About the role

The VP, Sanctions Compliance Officer is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing global trade and sanctions compliance programs within the semiconductor industry. This role focuses on mitigating risks related to OFAC, EAR, and international trade restrictions while providing strategic guidance to executive leadership on geopolitical developments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and maintain a comprehensive global sanctions compliance program to ensure adherence to OFAC, EU, and other relevant regulatory regimes
  • Provide expert legal and regulatory advice on complex trade compliance issues, specifically regarding dual-use semiconductor technologies
  • Oversee the end-to-end sanctions screening process for customers, distributors, and vendors across multiple jurisdictions
  • Lead internal investigations and audits to identify potential compliance gaps and implement corrective action plans
  • Monitor global geopolitical developments and assess their impact on company operations and supply chain strategy
  • Represent the company in interactions with regulatory bodies such as the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) and OFAC
  • Develop and deliver specialized sanctions training programs for high-risk departments including Sales, Logistics, and Finance
  • Collaborate with the Legal and Supply Chain teams to ensure robust due diligence in mergers, acquisitions, and new market entries

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in sanctions compliance, trade law, or regulatory affairs in a large-scale global organization
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S. Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
  • Proven track record of managing compliance programs within the semiconductor, hardware, or advanced manufacturing sectors
  • Juris Doctor (JD) or Master's degree in Law, International Relations, or a related field is highly preferred
  • Extensive experience with automated screening tools and Global Trade Management (GTM) systems like SAP GTS
  • Demonstrated ability to interpret and apply complex regulatory language to practical business scenarios
  • Strong leadership capabilities with experience managing global, cross-functional teams
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence C-suite executives and external stakeholders
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to balance compliance requirements with business growth objectives
  • Professional certification such as Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) is an advantage
