Key Responsibilities
- Define optical concepts and architectures to solve semiconductor metrology and inspection challenges, from requirements definition through solution delivery
- Drive development of novel high‑resolution optical metrology systems
- Formulate scientific research directions and competitive proposals to secure internal and external funding
- Translate semiconductor equipment manufacturing needs into impactful optics‑based research opportunities
- Collaborate with industry partners to deliver proof‑of‑concept systems, demonstrators, and applied R&D outcomes
- Mentor team members and foster cross‑team collaboration to grow optics and metrology capabilities
Requirements
- PhD in Optics, Physics, or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of experience leading R&D projects in optics, metrology, or semiconductor inspection (2 years for non‑senior roles)
- Strong fundamentals in optical system design and laser technologies with hands‑on experience developing and validating optical systems
- Demonstrated ability to translate complex metrology problems into practical optical solutions
- Track record of scientific publications and/or patents in relevant fields
- Experience working with industry partners and delivering applied R&D outcomes (highly desirable)
