About the role

Director role leading Metals, Mining and Energy Transition M&A activities across South‑East Asia, India and North Asia, responsible for strategy, origination, execution, client relationship management and team leadership within Standard Chartered Bank.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute M&A and event financing strategy for Metals & Mining sector in the region
  • Originate and execute buy‑side and sell‑side M&A transactions across South‑East Asia, India and North Asia
  • Engage senior client decision‑makers and act as trusted adviser
  • Lead execution of M&A mandates and supervise junior team members
  • Drive cross‑sell opportunities and collaborate with product teams (Project Finance, Leveraged Finance, etc.)
  • Ensure compliance with risk, control and governance frameworks, including AML and regulatory standards

Requirements

  • Key stakeholders * M&A Management Team M&M Management Team Client Coverage Industry Groups Product Groups Key support functions – Legal, Compliance, Control-Room, Risk, Human Resources, Finance, Technology, Corporate Affairs Other relevant business heads Other Responsibilities * Perform other responsibilities assigned under Group, Country, Business or Functional policies and procedures Our Ideal Candidate Bachelor or post graduate degree in finance, economics, accounting, law, engineering, mathematics or other relevant degrees.
  • 5 plus years' experience in mining investment banking is preferred but other relevant experience will also be considered.
  • Prior experience in the resources sector will be highly regarded but is not essential.
  • Highly motivated individuals with a strong record of achievement in academics Superior analytical aptitude, creative problem-solving abilities, strong accounting and corporate finance skills Ability to excel in both team and self-directed settings Strong work ethic, high attention to detail and ability to demonstrate initiative Excellent numerical skills.
