About the role
The Shift Stevedore performs dual roles as a Rigger and Signalman, ensuring the safe and efficient movement of cargo during port operations. Key duties include securing loads, managing safe working capacities, and providing clear visual signals to crane operators while adhering to MOM safety standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Ensure cargoes are properly rigged, secured, stable and balanced before the full execution of the lift
- Ensure that cargoes do not exceed the permitted safe working load
- Place adequate paddings on the cargoes to ensure that both the sling and cargoes will not be damaged
- Report any defect in lifting gear to Foreman/SLO/LS
- Establish tag lines if required to control the cargoes
- Perform the correct signal to guide crane operator in manoeuvring the cargoes to the destination
- Ensure that personnel cleared from 'line of fire' before signalling
- Notify and report to Foreman/SLO/LS immediately on any difficulty in discharging/loading of cargoes or conveying signals
- Liaise with JP SMC team on any administrative issues required by JP SMC
- Lookout for safety hazards and warn personnel involved in lifting
Requirements
- Rigger and Signalman must be accredited by MOM
- Ensure that required PPE is properly donned
- Ability to position himself correctly so that hand signals can be clearly seen by the operator
- Refrain from handling / rigging cargoes simultaneously when performing signalling
- Notify Foreman/SLO/LS immediately in any doubtful situation that may compromise with safety
- Conduct operation according to assigned job scope
- Verify with rigger that cargoes had been properly rigged before signalling for cargoes to be lifted
- Assist in general administrative matters
