About the role
The Research Officer will support senior scientists in the translational microbiology lab at A*STAR Infectious Diseases Labs, focusing on fungal pathogenesis, antifungal resistance, and fungal‑bacterial interactions. Responsibilities include routine laboratory experiments, molecular biology techniques, mouse model work, data quality maintenance, and preparation of figures and reports for publications. The role requires a bachelor's degree in a life‑science field and at least two years of research lab experience, with strong motivation, teamwork, and communication skills. Singapore citizens and permanent residents are preferred.

Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with senior research staff to support projects on fungal pathogenesis, antifungal resistance, and fungal‑bacterial interactions
- Perform routine laboratory experiments following established protocols
- Assist with mutant construction, culture‑based assays, cloning and vector construction
- Support microbiological procedures including media preparation and strain archiving
- Conduct experiments using mouse models to evaluate fungal pathogenesis and antifungal strategies
- Assist with inventory tracking and equipment maintenance
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Biomedical Sciences, Biochemistry, Life Sciences, Biological Sciences, Infectious Diseases, Microbiology, Immunology, or related field
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in a research laboratory
- Experience with fungal pathogens and cell culture (preferred)
- General lab skills in molecular biology including cloning, PCR, RNA and DNA methods
- Highly motivated, able to work independently and multitask
- Team player with good interpersonal skills
