About the role
Seeking a research scientist to work on the development of optical quantum memory platforms based on rare-earth-ion-doped crystals, with an emphasis on achieving long storage times. The successful candidate will perform cryogenic optical experiments, operate and maintain laser-based quantum memory experimental platform

Key Responsibilities
- Perform cryogenic optical experiments for quantum storage
- Operate, maintain, and modify laser-based quantum memory experimental platforms
- Implement and optimize quantum memory protocols for long storage times
- Conduct optical spectroscopy and coherence characterisation
- Contribute to technical reports, manuscripts, and project documentation
- Travel to international synchrotron and neutron beamline facilities
Requirements
- PhD in Physics, Applied Physics, Quantum Science, Electrical Engineering or a closely related discipline
- Strong experimental background in cryogenic optical spectroscopy and laser-based experiments
- Demonstrated experience with quantum memory protocols targeting long storage times
- Prior experience in rare-earth-ion spectroscopy, optical coherence control, or solid-state quantum memories strongly preferred
