About the role

The Genome Institute of Singapore (GIS) seeks a full‑time, on‑site Research Officer for the YUcleic Lab, a chemical biology laboratory focused on RNA‑ and DNA‑targeted drug discovery. The role combines 20% lab management duties with 80% scientific research, involving wet‑lab techniques, assay development, and collaborative projects in functional genomics and molecular pharmacology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Demonstrated strong sense of responsibility and organization in daily laboratory management
  • Maintain lab operations, including reagent preparation, consumable ordering, budget tracking, and equipment maintenance
  • Extensive hands‑on experience in wet lab techniques, including Western blotting, qPCR, plasmid cloning, and cellular assays
  • Develop and optimize cellular assays to evaluate the efficacy of RNA‑targeting strategies in cells
  • Assist in designing and conducting experiments related to CRISPR, small‑molecule screening, and ASO development
  • Engage in literature reviews, research discussions, and collaborative projects

Requirements

  • Degree in Biological Sciences, Chemical Biology, or related fields
  • Strong organizational skills and a positive, eager‑to‑learn attitude
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced research environment
