About the role
As a Research Engineer (Hydrodynamics) at the Technology Centre for Offshore and Marine, Singapore (TCOMS), you will be involved in experimental research and testing related to offshore and coastal infrastructure, maritime systems, and ocean engineering applications. In this role, you will focus on the design, execution, and analysis of physical model tests conducted in our state-of-the-art ocean basin laboratory.

Key Responsibilities
- Support the planning, design, and execution of physical model tests for offshore, coastal, and maritime systems.
- Support experimental studies in hydrodynamics, seakeeping, manoeuvring, and offshore structure responses, working closely with other engineers and researchers.
- Design and oversee the fabrication of experimental setups, model components, and fixtures required for specific tests.
- Execute model tests in the TCOMS ocean basins and perform rigorous data acquisition, post-processing, and analysis to derive meaningful conclusions.
- Prepare technical reports and documentation to share results with the team and clients.
- Contribute to the smooth running of the lab, writing documentation, setting up experiments, and general housekeeping.
Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Naval Architecture, Marine Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related disciplines.
- Relevant Experience: Preferably with research or industry experience in offshore engineering, hydrodynamics, or naval architecture.
- Proficiency: CAD Software: Proficient in SolidWorks, Rhino, or AutoCAD.
- Engineering Tools: Experience with WAMIT, SESAM, or OrcaFlex is advantageous.
- Programming: Skills in FORTRAN, Python, MATLAB, C++ or equivalent are highly valued.
