About the role

The Scientist, Measurement Science & Engineering will develop and validate high‑accuracy wafer‑level mmWave calibration methods, perform on‑wafer RF measurements, analyze data, and support traceability standards while collaborating with fabrication and metrology partners.

ResearchOnsiteNational Metrology Centre

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct on‑wafer RF/mmWave measurements using VNAs, probe stations, and mmWave probes up to 110 GHz
  • Develop, implement, and validate advanced on‑wafer calibration techniques such as TRL, LRRM, LRM, and multiline TRL
  • Characterise fabricated on‑wafer calibration kits and evaluate measurement accuracy, repeatability, and uncertainty
  • Perform data analysis, error modelling, and benchmark performance against metrology and industry practices
  • Support establishment of measurement traceability aligned with national and international metrology standards
  • Collaborate with fabrication teams to enable design–fabrication–measurement feedback loops for calibration structure optimisation

Requirements

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Microelectronics, Applied Physics, or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
  • Hands‑on experience in RF/mmWave measurements, preferably wafer‑level probing
  • Strong understanding of VNA calibration, de‑embedding, and high‑frequency measurement techniques
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as MATLAB or Python (preferred)
  • Good analytical skills and technical writing ability
  • Ability to work effectively in a multi‑institution, interdisciplinary research team
