About the role

The Account Technologist (CMP) drives technology success for Applied Materials by managing install base performance, resolving complex field process issues, leading customer demonstrations, and integrating customer requirements into product roadmaps. The role acts as the customer technology expert for CMP processes, collaborates with account teams, and contributes to product strategy and technology transfer initiatives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Responsible for business success from the technology point of view by managing install base and new product application performance to drive customer satisfaction and identify business risks.
  • Manage definition and implementation of processes and applications to meet current and future customer productivity and technology requirements using Applied Materials products.
  • Act as the customer technology expert for at least one class of processes, guiding technology development and transfer and integrating customer requirements into internal product roadmaps.
  • Resolve complex field process issues using systematic troubleshooting methodology and statistical techniques such as Design of Experiments to determine root cause and action plans.
  • Create mechanisms to communicate issues and track progress, and share learnings globally to strengthen product packages.
  • Lead customer demos, defining demo conditions, wafer processing, and analyzing results.

Requirements

  • Degree in Engineering with 5+ years of experience in semiconductor process or applications engineering.
  • Strong troubleshooting, DOE, and data‑analysis skills to resolve complex process issues.
  • Expertise in at least one semiconductor unit process and ability to guide technology development and transfer.
  • Experience defining and running customer demos, analyzing results, and supporting account teams.
  • Ability to integrate customer requirements into product roadmaps and identify process/hardware gaps.
  • Strong customer communication, technical presentation, and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
