Key Responsibilities
- Lead integrated laser design and quantum photonic device development
- Oversee large-scale photonic integration and foundry coordination
- Direct device and system characterization; mentor team members
- Mentor and supervise junior researchers, PhD students, and research assistants within the group.
- Coordinate research activities with industry partners (e.g., DSO, Samsung) and academic collaborators.
- Prepare high-impact publications and present research findings at international conferences.
- Contribute to research grant proposals and funding applications.
- Ensure compliance with project milestones, deliverables, and reporting requirements.
Requirements
- PhD (for Research Fellow and above equivalent) qualification degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Photonics, Optical Engineering, or a closely related field.
- At least 4 years of relevant postdoctoral experience in integrated photonics, laser design, or quantum photonic systems.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Proficiency in photonic simulation tools such as Ansys Lumerical, Tidy3D, and layout tools such as GDSfactory, KLayout, or equivalent.
- Strong programming skills in Python and MATLAB for data analysis, device modeling, and automation.
- Demonstrated publication track record in high-impact journals (e.g., Nature Photonics, Optica, ACS Photonics, or equivalent).
- Hands-on cleanroom fabrication experience including lithography, etching, thin-film deposition, and device packaging.
- Interpersonal skills (e.g. ability to work independently, develop solutions under strict timelines, meticulous attention to detail, excellent organizational and time management skills).
