Key Responsibilities
- Perform inorganic analytical measurements on grab and online samples, including ion chromatography (IC), inductively coupled plasma (ICP), titration, TGA, XRD and pH/conductivity measurements
- Operate, calibrate, and maintain analytical instruments in accordance with standard operating procedures and manufacturer guidelines
- Collect, process, and review analytical data; perform quality checks and flag anomalous results for investigation
- Prepare calibration standards, reagents, and reference solutions to support analytical programmes
- Maintain accurate and complete records of all analytical activities, calibration logs, and instrument maintenance in laboratory logs.
- Support the development and validation of new analytical methods for novel sample matrices (aqueous based) encountered in energy research
- Collaborate with process and mechanical research teams to integrate measurements and data into process improvement cycles
- Monitor and calibrate online sensors and analysers integrated into process test rigs, ensuring data integrity and instrument uptime
- Contribute to the safe management of the analytical laboratory, including chemical handling, waste disposal, and compliance with EHS requirements
- Assist in compiling analytical results into technical reports and presentations for research and project teams
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Analytical Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a closely related scientific discipline. Relevant polytechnic diploma with substantial analytical laboratory experience may also be considered.
