Key Responsibilities
- Design and simulate O-Band quantum dot hybrid silicon laser structures for backreflection-resilient operation
- Develop and optimize silicon plasma dispersive devices for on-chip optical isolation
- Fabricate heterogeneous lithium tantalate photonic isolators using cleanroom microfabrication processes
- Characterize optical devices including laser performance, isolation ratio, and backreflection measurements
- Analyze experimental data and develop models to understand backreflection mitigation mechanisms
- Prepare technical reports, journal publications, and conference presentations
- Collaborate with project partners and contribute to project milestones and deliverables
Requirements
- PhD qualification degree in Electrical Engineering, Photonics, Physics, Materials Science, or related field
- , fabrication, or characterization is preferred
- Familiarity with cleanroom fabrication processes for semiconductor or photonic devices
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Proficiency in optical/photonic simulation tools (e.g., Lumerical, COMSOL, RSoft, or similar)
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a research team environment
