Key Responsibilities

  • Support senior researchers in operating CVD and high-vacuum deposition and semiconductor processing systems.
  • Assist with experimental setup, tool preparation, sample handling and process monitoring.
  • Perform routine material and device characterisation using optical microscopy, AFM, XRD and basic electrical measurements.
  • Collect, log and carry out preliminary analysis of experimental data and report results.
  • Maintain experimental records and data repositories in accordance with laboratory protocols.
  • Support laboratory operations, including inventory control, consumables, safety checks and basic equipment upkeep.
  • Assist with procurement, documentation and vendor coordination.
  • Follow laboratory safety procedures, SOPs and good housekeeping standards.
  • Assist in routine and preventive maintenance of CVD equipment and related laboratory systems.
  • Assist in wafer processing activities, including bonding, etching, cleaning, and sample preparation.

Requirements

  • The candidate should have a minimum bachelor’s degree in physics, materials science or electrical and electronic engineering.
  • Basic exposure to laboratory-based research or semiconductor processing, through coursework, final-year projects, internships, or prior technical roles.
  • Willingness to support operation of epitaxial growth and characterization tools (e.g., MOCVD/MBE, AFM, XRD) under supervision.
  • Fundamental understanding of semiconductor concepts and experimental procedures; hands-on experience is an advantage.
  • Ability to follow SOPs strictly, maintain accurate experimental records, and carry out assigned tasks reliably.
  • Awareness of laboratory safety practices and readiness to comply with safety and operational guidelines.
  • Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management to support multiple tasks effectively.
  • Good writing skills for writing proposals, reports and publications in good academic journals
  • A proactive attitude, willingness to learn new techniques and take on practical laboratory responsibilities
