Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct membrane-related projects for desalination, decarbonisation, resource recovery, etc.
  • Design, optimisation, construction, commissioning and operation of membrane-based desalination and water reclamation pilot-scale and lab-scale systems.
  • Conduct membrane and separation process modelling, module-scale desalination system modelling, including conventional modelling and machine learning-based modelling.
  • Publish research data and prepare project progress reports.
  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals.
  • Mentor junior PhD students, master’s students and undergraduate students for their research projects.

Requirements

  • PhD degree from a reputable university in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
  • Excellent journal paper publication record.
  • Excellent report writing skills.
  • Excellent oral presentation skills and multitasking skills.
  • Excellent experience in design, optimisation, construction, commissioning and operation of membrane-based desalination and water reclamation systems.
  • Excellent experience in membrane and separation process modelling, module-scale desalination system modelling, including conventional modelling and machine learning-based modelling.
  • Relevant research experience on membrane technology and separation technologies.
  • Relevant research experience on electrochemical processes and/or electrode synthesis.
  • Relevant research experience in scaling up electrochemical water technology.
  • Relevant research experience in the fabrication/synthesis of RO/NF/ion exchange membranes (IEMs)/organic solvent membranes and/or organic chemical synthesis, and membrane/separation process development.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills.
  • Strong sense of responsibility for research and project delivery.
