Key Responsibilities
- Conduct membrane-related projects for desalination, decarbonisation, resource recovery, etc.
- Design, optimisation, construction, commissioning and operation of membrane-based desalination and water reclamation pilot-scale and lab-scale systems.
- Conduct membrane and separation process modelling, module-scale desalination system modelling, including conventional modelling and machine learning-based modelling.
- Publish research data and prepare project progress reports.
- Assist in the preparation of grant proposals.
- Mentor junior PhD students, master’s students and undergraduate students for their research projects.
Requirements
- PhD degree from a reputable university in chemical engineering, environmental engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Excellent journal paper publication record.
- Excellent report writing skills.
- Excellent oral presentation skills and multitasking skills.
- Excellent experience in design, optimisation, construction, commissioning and operation of membrane-based desalination and water reclamation systems.
- Excellent experience in membrane and separation process modelling, module-scale desalination system modelling, including conventional modelling and machine learning-based modelling.
- Relevant research experience on membrane technology and separation technologies.
- Relevant research experience on electrochemical processes and/or electrode synthesis.
- Relevant research experience in scaling up electrochemical water technology.
- Relevant research experience in the fabrication/synthesis of RO/NF/ion exchange membranes (IEMs)/organic solvent membranes and/or organic chemical synthesis, and membrane/separation process development.
- Self-motivated and able to work independently and in a team.
- Excellent interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills.
- Strong sense of responsibility for research and project delivery.
