About the role
Lead precious metals trading desk for a global markets business, managing physical and derivative positions, client relationships, and P&L while developing trading strategies and mentoring junior traders.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute trading strategies for precious metals including gold, silver, platinum, and palladium
- Manage physical and derivative positions to optimize P&L while controlling risk exposure
- Build and maintain relationships with institutional clients, miners, refiners, and industrial consumers
- Provide market insights, pricing, and hedging solutions to corporate and institutional clients
- Oversee daily trading operations and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
- Mentor and develop junior traders and analysts within the precious metals team
- Collaborate with sales, research, and risk management teams to deliver integrated client solutions
- Monitor global macroeconomic trends and geopolitical events impacting precious metals markets
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience trading precious metals or related commodities
- Proven track record of profitable trading and risk management
- Strong understanding of precious metals market dynamics and supply chain
- Experience with both physical and derivative instruments (futures, options, swaps)
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or related quantitative field
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with ability to build pricing models
- Strong client relationship management and business development capabilities
- Deep knowledge of regulatory frameworks and compliance requirements
- Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions in fast-paced environment
- Experience managing and developing junior team members
- Proficiency in trading systems and market data platforms
- Strong communication skills for presenting complex market views to clients
- CFA or FRM certification preferred
- Experience with base metals or other commodities advantageous
