About the role

Lead the global Application Performance Management and Observability strategy for a Tier 1 semiconductor manufacturer, overseeing tool selection, implementation, and optimization across enterprise IT and manufacturing systems while managing vendor relationships and a distributed technical team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define and execute the global APM & Observability strategy aligned with business objectives
  • Lead evaluation, selection, and implementation of APM and observability tools across the enterprise
  • Establish monitoring standards, best practices, and governance frameworks
  • Drive automation of monitoring and alerting processes to reduce manual effort
  • Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and manufacturing IT teams to ensure comprehensive observability
  • Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts for monitoring tools and services
  • Define and track KPIs/SLAs for system performance and availability
  • Lead incident response and post-incident reviews for critical performance issues
  • Develop and maintain technical roadmaps for APM and observability capabilities
  • Mentor and develop a global team of APM and observability engineers

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in IT with at least 5 years in APM/Observability leadership roles
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Master's preferred
  • Proven expertise with enterprise APM tools (Splunk, Datadog, Dynatrace, New Relic, etc.)
  • Strong experience with observability platforms and open-source tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK, OpenTelemetry)
  • Demonstrated experience leading global technical teams across multiple geographies
  • Deep understanding of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and hybrid environments
  • Strong knowledge of ITIL and SRE practices
  • Experience with automation and scripting languages (Python, PowerShell, etc.)
  • Proven track record of driving large-scale monitoring transformations
  • Excellent communication skills with ability to present to C-level executives
  • Strong vendor management and contract negotiation experience
  • Experience in semiconductor or high-tech manufacturing environments preferred
  • ITIL or PMP certification preferred
  • Willingness to travel up to 25% globally
