Senior Research Engineer II at Technology Centre for Offshore and Marine, Singapore, contributing to R&D through physical experiments, design of scaled models, structural assessment, and research in offshore hydrodynamics, coastal protection, and fluid-structure interactions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to high-quality research and development work in TCOMS laboratory through physical experiments including: design of scaled physical test models, generation of detailed design, production, assembly, and as-built drawings, structural assessment of test models, work with team on model fabrication and modification, calibration, instrumentation, and experimental setup, enhance measurement of models' behaviour using sensors, document design processes, and contribute to process enhancements.
  • Perform research in offshore hydrodynamics, coastal protection, structural response and health monitoring of marine & offshore platforms and floating structures, and fluid-structure interactions.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, affiliated research institutes and other stakeholders in proposal preparation and submission.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's/Master's Degree from reputable universities in Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering, Offshore Engineering, or other related disciplines.
  • Preferably 3 years of relevant research/industry experience with competent knowledge in some of the following areas: Offshore engineering, marine engineering, marine structures, hydrodynamics, naval architecture.
  • Prior knowledge in CAD software (SolidWorks, Rhino, AutoCAD), engineering tools (SESAM, ABAQUS), programming codes (Python, MATLAB, or equivalent), and model experiments in wave flumes, wave tank or ocean basin is an advantage.
  • Good interpersonal and communications skills.
  • Ability to adapt and work effectively as members of a team.
  • Good command of written and spoken English language.
