About the role

The Data Center Engineering Operations Engineer oversees the maintenance and operation of critical infrastructure within AWS data centers, focusing on electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety systems. This role ensures operational excellence through risk management, vendor oversight, and timely response to facility incidents to maintain high availability and uptime.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet daily hours of operations, on call requirements and response during rotations
  • Manage minor and major planned and unplanned site works for critical infrastructure
  • Responsible for the on-site management of contractors, sub-contractors and vendors
  • Prepare reports on all aspects of the data center facility infrastructure operations and maintenance
  • Generate change management requests & incident management tickets for DCEO activities
  • Coordinate with business leaders and operating partners to optimize plant safety, performance, reliability, sustainability and efficiency
  • Implement projects to increase current facility capacity, efficiency, sustainability & reliability
  • Support troubleshooting facility and rack-level events within internal Service Level Agreements (SLA)
  • Perform rack installs, rack decommissioning, and facility management
  • Provide operational readings and key performance indicators to make sure uptime is maintained

Requirements

  • High school or equivalent diploma
  • 2+ years of electrical or mechanical experience
  • Ability to participate in a 24 x 7 rotating shift roster
  • 2+ years of data center engineering experience preferred
  • Experience leading and managing operations of critical facilities requiring in-depth knowledge in electrical, mechanical, and control systems
  • Experience in management of vendors/contractors performing construction, maintenance and upgrading works in large-scale critical environment
  • Willingness to work shifts up to 12-hours that may rotate on a predefined schedule
  • Solid understanding of site works risk mitigation and SLA requirements
  • Ability to follow technical documentation relevant to business and facility operations
  • Strong technical understanding and the drive to take data center engineering operations to the next level
