About This Role
Thermo Fisher Scientific seeks an Engineer II, Mechanical in Singapore to contribute to innovations for scientific instruments. This role involves designing and developing mechanical systems from concept through production, ensuring manufacturability and quality compliance.
Responsibilities
- Generate conceptual proposals for mechanical design reviews.
- Establish modular designs and full product BOM structures.
- Build and report on sub-assembly test plans.
- Ensure design integration into mechanical architecture with robustness.
- Provide design improvements and support technology development.
- Collaborate with vendors on DFM and cost negotiation.
Requirements
- Degree/Master in Mechanical Engineering.
- Min. 3 years' experience in mechanical design.
- Proven product development life cycle experience.
- Proficiency in 3D CAD modeling (Solidworks/Pro-Engineer preferred).
- Ability to apply DFM practices for casting, machining, plastics molding, and sheet-metal.
- Basic to advanced GD&T knowledge.
- Understanding of design-to-cost targets.
