About the role

The Critical Environment Energy Marshall oversees the compliance and execution of Microsoft's Energy Isolation Program (LOTO) within datacenter environments. This role acts as a subject matter expert for high-risk activity planning and incident investigations, ensuring all electrical safety protocols meet company and local standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversees and assures the overall compliance of Microsoft's Energy Isolation Program and establish acceptance criteria for authorizing campus Energy Isolation Plan
  • Implements learnings, provides consistency, and drives rigor into Microsoft's Energy Isolation program and ensures program meets or exceeds company safety policy requirements
  • Utilise local code and standards as the foundation for Microsoft's Energy Isolation program that is implemented throughout the campus
  • Establish with the Engineering team a centralized Lockout Tag Out (LOTO) procedure with all campus entities and determine if a group or individual LOTO procedure will be required
  • Commencement of energy isolation activities with updates on a continuous basis
  • Liaise with Microsoft construction team where Energy Isolation activities may potentially impact data center core operations
  • Act in coordination with the Engineering team as a subject matter expert in all energy isolation incident investigations in area of responsibility
  • Participate in high-risk activity (HRA) planning meetings associated with energy isolation
  • Ensures high-risk SOWs, SOPs and MOPs are reviewed, and all sources of energy are identified
  • Ensure a process is established that verifies qualifications, training, and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for personnel performing the work

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ year(s) technical engineering experience OR Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field AND 3+ years technical engineering experience OR equivalent experience
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements
  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check required upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter
