About the role
This Senior Technical Business Developer role leads the global planning, contracting, and delivery of AWS's subsea backbone network. The position involves managing multi-year submarine cable projects, coordinating marine operations and route engineering, and driving technical standards for high-capacity global connectivity.

Key Responsibilities
- Work closely with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders to develop and deliver submarine cable projects across the globe
- Represent and lead for Amazon in deployment and operational meetings
- Coordinate complex projects spanning several geographies and deliver the project to high standards
- Own the technology roadmap and standards for submarine cable, optical fiber, installation methods, and optical equipment procurement
- Define the contractual framework for all required elements adding capacity that supports the AWS Backbone Network
- Work closely with Regional Business Development teams to deliver submarine capacity to a global standard
- Implement new processes and procedures driving continuous improvement while interacting with a broad range of stakeholders
- Manage RSPC and associated operational models and security postures
Requirements
- 5+ years of technical engineering experience
- Bachelor's degree or above in engineering or equivalent technical project experience
- Direct knowledge and experience in the subsea telecoms cable industry
- Deep knowledge of how to construct subsea amplified fibre-based networks
- Specific experience in route survey, route engineering, and marine operations
- Proven experience in the subsea telecoms space with a strong sense of ownership
- Ability to define and drive large cross-functional programs
- Ability to learn quickly and influence decision-making across organizations
- Experience communicating clearly and concisely with leadership, stakeholders, and cross-functional teams
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
- Knowledge of Submarine Line Termination Equipment specification and deployment is desirable but not essential
