About the role

Senior Supplier Quality Engineer responsible for ensuring high standards of quality for AWS data-center infrastructure equipment from supplier selection through field deployment. The role involves technical investigations, supplier assessments, failure analysis, KPI development, and continuous improvement initiatives across global regions with 30-50% travel.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and maintain the supplier quality roadmap across engineering and procurement teams
  • Conduct technical investigations of equipment failures to understand root causes and prevent recurrence
  • Provide technical expertise on quality evaluation methods, testing approaches, and failure analysis techniques
  • Drive supplier and product qualification and assessment processes in support of procurement teams. This includes developing technical approaches for evaluating new equipment and suppliers entering the AWS ecosystem
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that address both immediate quality issues and long-term performance optimization
  • Develop and implement Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to monitor supplier quality performance and drive accountability
  • Work on concurrent projects, sometimes in multiple geographical regions

Requirements

  • Master's degree or above in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • Experience in data center engineering or operations
  • Experience in manufacturing, process, or industrial engineering
  • Experience with process improvement, Kaizan, and Six Sigma, or experience in creating process improvements with automation and analysis
  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Excel, Pivot Tables, SQL, Tableau, etc.
  • Experience in supply chain, commodity, and supplier management in a high volume, global sourcing and operations manufacturing environment with a global supply base of contract manufacturers
