About the role
The Associate Corporate Counsel provides legal support for AWS's data center expansion, handling real estate transactions, lease negotiations, zoning and entitlement work, and advising internal teams. The role also manages outside counsel, resolves legal issues, and drives process improvements within the legal team.

Key Responsibilities
- Support AWS worldwide data center expansion through land acquisitions, leases, zoning entitlement work and serviced licenses
- Draft, structure and negotiate a variety of real estate transactional documents including leases, lease amendments, purchase and sale agreements, easements, development agreements and co‑ownership agreements
- Provide daily legal counsel and contract interpretation to business team members
- Support AWS's existing portfolio of properties and manage relationships with outside counsel
- Advise internal business clients on legal matters related to commercial real estate and high‑value agreements
- Develop, implement and manage process improvements across the legal team
- Resolve legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships
- Handle pre‑litigation legal disputes and inquiries
Requirements
- 3+ years of legal experience
- Qualified lawyer with outstanding academic and legal qualifications
- Experience drafting and negotiating a variety of real estate transactional documents (leases, lease amendments, purchase and sale agreements, easements, development agreements, co‑ownership agreements, etc.)
- Experience of a mix of corporate law firm and in‑house work
- Experience managing multiple projects and meeting aggressive deadlines
- Experience with development/entitlement work
- Strong analytical and judgment skills in ambiguous situations
- Excellent written and verbal communication abilities
