UMC

Overview

UMC is a Taiwanese semiconductor foundry founded in 1980 as Taiwan's first private integrated circuit company. It manufactures integrated circuit wafers for fabless semiconductor companies and is ranked as the world's second-largest dedicated independent pure-play foundry behind TSMC. UMC operates four 300mm fabs across Taiwan, Singapore, China, and Japan, serving customers in automotive, communications, and consumer electronics markets.

UMC operates Fab 12i in Singapore, a 300mm wafer fabrication facility with a capacity of approximately 53,000 wafers per month. The Singapore facility produces chips using nodes from 130nm to 40nm and serves as a key manufacturing hub for UMC's global foundry operations.
